1) Consult Before The Wax
Typically a Brazilian wax is often considered to be a waxing service where all of the hair is removed, however, this is not always the case.
It is a good idea to take a few minutes prior to the waxing service to consult with your client to answer any questions and confirm exactly what they are expecting and hoping for out of the wax.
Discuss how much hair they want removed and ensure you understand what it is they want done. This will help to avoid any awkward situations in the wax room!
2) Have Confidence in Yourself
Quick, swift and confident pulls when removing the wax will help to make the waxing service more comfortable for your client. If you show hesitation in the wax room you may cause your client to feel unsure or fearful. Your client may already be nervous which is why it is important to be aware of your energy and work to reassure them rather then raise their anxiety level. Firmly support the skin in the opposite direction to which you intend to pull.
This will help reduce any possible discomfort and make your client feel confident in your waxing ability.
3) Recommend at Home Care and Maintenance
Take the opportunity during the wax to educate your client on the importance of at home care and maintenance in between waxing sessions. Often clients are not aware of what they should be doing once they leave the wax room and it is always great to remind them and provide some tips. Exfoliation is key to removing dead skin cells which will allow the hairs to break through the skin more easily avoiding ingrown hairs.
If you find your client is prone to ingrowns, you can offer a suggestion on some ingrown hair treatments. Look for products that contain active ingredients such as Salicylic acid as they tend to work best for treatment and prevention such as Lycon Ingrown-X-it Cream or Ingrown-X-it Solution
Encouraging them to take care of their skin at home will help make the experience more comfortable when they return to the waxing room.
